Heather Griffin, Student Success Coordinator

Fulfilling her love of working with college students, Heather Griffin joined the Office of Academic staff in 2008. After teaching high school social studies, Heather decided to go back to school to get her masters in counseling. While she loved the subjects she taught, she realized her real passion was for talking with students about their problems and helping them to find ways to cope with personal issues as well as helping them succeed in school. At the culmination of her graduate program, Heather volunteered as an intern in the Counseling Center here at Belmont Abbey working with students who were struggling with issues surrounding parental divorce, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, eating disorders, substance abuse, and transition to college.  As the Student Success Coordinator, Heather is experiencing the perfect marriage of her two loves: her love of academics and her love of counseling students. On a personal note, Heather has been married to her husband Tripp since June of 1999. They currently live in Gaston County with their daughter, Maggie, who was born in June 2006. In her spare time, Heather enjoys traveling, the theater, and cooking.
