Belmont Abbey College Prepares For Holy Week Students, Staff to Hold Special Easter Services
BELMONT, NC --- Belmont Abbey College plans to hold several special services in preparation for Holy Week.
Belmont Abbey College’s Campus Ministry will have a meditation on the Stations of the Cross, Friday, April 7, 2006 at 3:00 PM in the grotto at Belmont Abbey College. Students from the Brothers in Christ, Sons of Mary household will be leading the meditation. The event is free and open to the public.
The Stations of the Cross are a meditation on the events leading up to the crucifixion of Jesus on Mt. Calvary and gives individuals an opportunity to reflect upon the impact Christ’s life, death and resurrection.
On Saturday, April 8, 2006 beginning at 8:30 AM in the Student Commons at Belmont Abbey College, Father David Brown, O.S.B. will present, “The Suffering Servant: Who Is It,” and will be followed by BAC professor David Pitt’s talk, “Hosanna to Alleluia: The Church at Prayer During Holy Week.”
The special morning of reflection will wrap up Saturday, April 8, 2006 with Mass in the Abbey Basilica at 11:00 AM followed by midday prayer at 11:45 AM. The event is free and open to the public. For information about reservations, please call 704.461.6248.
During the Easter holiday, classes will be cancelled and administrative offices at the College will be closed beginning April 13 through April 17, 2006.
